Can Minas Gerais become a major innovation hub?

A major bottleneck in Brazil’s economic recovery remains a lack of long-term investment, hampered even further by double-digit interest rates. Yet, there are regions in the country that continue to attract investors despite the generally challenging situation. One of these is Betim, the third-largest city in the Belo Horizonte metro area, in the heart of the southeastern state of Minas Gerais.

Last week, Florida-based multinational company Jabil inaugurated an innovation hub that aims to foster hardware-development projects in the region. The idea is to promote projects to be launched directly on the market.
